Permanent - Luton - Food Industry Exp

Std hours Mon - Fri 9 am to 5.30 pm

A highly successful company that imports food and distributes it across the UK (retail) who are extremely passionate about its business. They have spent the last 5 decades supplying the UK retail marketplace by nurturing and building relationships. They are recruiting for an Account Executive who has worked in the food industry and will be reporting to the Head of Commercial and act as direct cover when he/she is away from the office. Flexibility is key as there will be some travel in the UK and abroad with occasional overnight stays. You'll need lots of energy, enthusiasm, and confidence to fulfill this role along with a flexible can-do attitude. Organisational skills are key as well as the confidence to meet customers and do PowerPoint presentations in front of an audience.

Key areas will be managing retailer relationships, gathering market information, and communicating retailer need to the business. You will be responsible for the day-to-day account management along with supporting the commercial and customer-facing technical team and management of group marketing campaigns.

Account Executive Key Responsibilities

  • Management of key accounts
  • Presentations to clients 
  • Helping to coordinate customer queries and requests, ensuring customer needs are met.
  • Managing and supporting with regular and ad-hoc customer reporting and project work
  • To act as direct cover for the Head of Commercial when they are away from the office.
  • Make sure important customer information is sent out to the correct teams in the business.
  • Visiting supermarket stores on a weekly basis to produce a competitor price and quality report.
  • Liaising with the order processing team with regards to ordering amendments (increases, decreases, cancellations).
  • Supporting the Accounts team, with the debit and credit note requests.
  • Overseeing rejections, shortages, and over deliveries by liaising with the appropriate teams.
  • Co-ordinate information and brief the business, with regard to customer seasonal delivery requirements, including preparation of the Christmas and Easter information packs.
  • Attending customer meetings with the Head of Commercial, when required.
  • Co-ordinating meetings and customer visits, where required
  • Overseeing marketing opportunities and managing the Group’s presence on social media


  • Must have food industry experience
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Able to present to an audience
  • Speaking and advising clients
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Have at least 1 year in a similar role


Key Attributes:

  • Must have food industry experience
  • The Account Executive must have excellent communication skills
  • A good grasp of English written and verbal are essential
  • Ability to work autonomously or as a team; and work proactively
  • Good personal organisation skills and time keeping
  • Confident speaking to customers and to colleagues
  • Willingness to take calls and answer ad hoc queries at weekends
  • Ability to build good working relationships with customers and the wider company team(s)
  • Able to be flexible on hours
  • Full driving license
